Joe MacGann’s Fiddle

This great tune from the hand of D. R. MacLennan, half-brother to the great G. S. McLennan. It was originally published in Scots Guards 1 as “The Ladies Hornpipe,” a traditional tune, but it was in fact a D.R. original, written sometime around 1930 as a “slow hornpipe” for a Drill Sergeant with the Irish Guards, also a fiddler. D.R. set the record straight in a 1970 article in the Piping Times.
