This great 6/8 march was hugely popular in southern Ontario in the 1970s, then seemed to be forgotten again. It well deserves not to be!

    PM Jim Scott handed the music out to us in 1973/4. I loved this tune…just loved it. I think it was placed in a set with The Pibroch of Donald Dhu & The Glendueral Highlanders.

    I was surprised to read the para above, not only for its reference to its years of popularity, and reference to S Ont, but that it had fallen out of popularity. Another PM of mine, Jimmie Frame, used to say tunes woukd come and go, and that some were so popular at times that “even the dogs in the street were whistling them” …a phrase I’ve borrowed & applied to many songs.

    PM DSR: my fav composer of “light music”.
