John Weatherston was pipe major of the famous Red Hackle Pipes and Drums in the 1960s and 1970s. Their groundbreaking recordings utilizing organ and brass bands were hugely popular and influential at the time. He was also a partner in the great pipemaking firm R. G. Hardie along with Bob Hardie.

    Thank you for making this music available. I purchased my bagpipes in 1984 from Pipe Major Weatherston at Hardie & Co. Great to finally hear him play the pipes..

      Actually this isn’t John playing. I record all the tune on a Deger electronic chanter.
