Farewell to the Creeks

James Robertson
March 6/8

Intermediate

Supposedly written onto a piece of yellow blotting paper while the composer, James “Robbie” Robertson, was in solitary confinement in a German POW camp during the Great War, the tune refers to a natural feature of the coastline of Portknockie on the southern short of the Moray Firth. “The Creeks” are spectacular rocky inlets here caused by heavy sea erosion.
