  I enjoyed this music. I have been looking at information available of the internet about the Katherine Marjorie Murray, Marchionness of Tullibardine, who opened the suspension bridge in Pitlochry, Scotland in 1913. I was pleased to find this music. I was recently visiting Scotland and spent a couple of delightful day in Pitlochry.
  Was this music written for this particular marchioness? And when was it written?

    This tune was published first in the late 1890s fully formed as a competition march and with no composer listed. This would suggest it had been around well before this. Seems to me I read something on this not too long ago. I can’t mind where, but I believe it was a different Marchionness. If anyone else can shed any more light on this it would be great to hear from you. JM
